Guns ‘N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose sues Guitar Hero maker

Axl Rose, the figurehead, lead vocalist and sole remaining original member of 80s’ rock band Guns ‘N’ Roses, is filing a lawsuit against Activision Blizzard, the company behind the phenomenally popular Guitar Hero franchise.

Activision is being sued for “fraud, breach of contract and unjust enrichment.”

Rose, 48, is seeking more than $20 million in damages for what he says was improper use of the Guns ‘N’ Roses song “Welcome To The Jungle” used in the game Guitar Hero III.

In legal documents leaked by Radar Online, Rose admits there was an agreement to use the song. However, as the lawsuit reads, Rose alleges:

“Activision breached the contract when it released Guitar Hero III which prominently features [former Guns ‘N’ Roses lead guitarist] Slash imagery in direct connection with the use of “Welcome to the Jungle,” exploits the prior association between Slash and Guns N’ Roses, promotes Slash’s and Velvet Revolver’s separate interests and includes Velvet Revolver tracks as available downloads, all of which was and is directly contrary to the contractual obligations of Defendants.”

Guns ‘N’ Roses is currently in the middle of a world tour set to wrap-up in Australia this December.
